Between a Best Friend and The love of her life

Mayra and Emma were best friends since High School. They were now both college graduates and they each had there careers. They would talk on the phone everyday to see what was going on in each others lives. Even though they didn’t have any sisters they shared a feeling of sisters. They would be with each other in the sad and happy events of life. They friendship was strong because they use to say “Nobody and nothing is going to be able to break our friendship and especially no guy”. Emma didn’t know her best friend Mayra hide a secret, she didn’t know that she was in love with her future husband. Mayra didn’t know what to do if she told Emma she would loose her friendship but if she didn’t tell her she would feel bad. She was in denial she will say “I can’t believe this is happening to me, how I got into this situation I can’t believe I am doing this to my best friend, I wish I didn’t exist. One day Emma called Mayra and told her “why don’t we go out to dinner to that nice restaurant that they opened next to the beach oh and we will each take our boyfriends.” Mayra didn’t want to go but she didn’t want to tell Emma it was because Derrick was going she didn’t want her to suspect anything. So she decided to accept the invitation. Emma said “ok we will meet in the restaurant at eight.” “Ok I’ll try to be early” said Mayra. When Mayra and her boyfriend Joe arrived Emma and Derrick were sitting in a table already because like always they were late. They arrived at the table and they said hello shaking hands when Mayra and Derrick shake hands they stare at each others eyes which show love. Emma cut in and said “Derrick meet Mayra’s boyfriend, and then he said “I didn’t know you had a boyfriend” Emma said “yes they had been together for two years and hopefully they decide to get married like we did.” They had a seat and order but Mayra was so uncomfortable she just wanted to get out of there and run until her breath was out. During the whole dinner she notice Derrick wouldn’t take his eyes away from her and that made her even more nervous. When Emma started to talk about the details of the wedding Mayra said “oh excuse me I’ll be back I need to go to the restroom.” Instead Mayra went outside of the restaurant and took a walk on the beach. While she was walking she was thinking how could this been happening to me, I fall in love with my best friends boyfriend, this can’t be happening to me, not me. As soon as Derrick saw Mayra going out to the door he also excused him self and went out and followed her. He catches her and said “hey wait for me I need to talk to you it’s something important.” She turned around and told him “I don’t want to talk to you, everything is okay nothing bad is going on, you are in love with Emma and you are going to marry her in one month.” Derrick said “ Listen to me we can’t hide the love we feel for each other no more, you can’t go through life denying the problem, and we talk to Emma and tell her everything.” Mayra said “you are not going to tell her anything I already told you nothing is going on.” He said “I can’t get married with someone I don’t love anymore and especially if I found the love of my life.” Mayra stayed quiet and didn’t say anything Derrick got closer to her and kissed her she moved back and said “this can’t be happening, you love my best friend and you are going to marry her.” He told her “stop denying the reality I love you and you love me, let’s leave everything and everyone behind and start our lives together in a different place, let’s go start our life in Italy.” She said “I accept let’s leave everything behind and live our lives together even if that means leaving my best friend behind.” So the happy couple left to the airport bought the airplane tickets to Italy and left and lived their lives happily and much in love. Mayra stopped denying her reality and decided to put an end to it and even though she didn’t confront her best friend she was living a happy life with the love of her life.
