Metamorphosis- A better life without Gregor

Sometimes we are in a better state of life when we are in a better state of life when we do things for our own than someone else doing them for us. In my opinion Gregor’s family was in a better state in the end of the book than in the beginning because even though Gregg worked for them and tried to give them a good like they realized that being an individual is better.

Gregor’s father had a better way of life even though he had to start working because when he didn’t use to work he would just see on the couch and read the newspaper or fall asleep for almost the whole day. His health condition wasn’t good in the beginning of the book but then his health condition became better. His sister started looking happier and prettier after Gregor wasn’t there, even though she had t to start working and live her old life behind in which Gregor use to give her anything she wanted. The whole family had the feeling of having a better future without Gregor on there side. “Leaning back comfortably in there seats, they discussed their prospects for the time to come, and it seemed close examination that these weren’t bad at all, for all three positions- about which they had never really asked one another in any detail- where exceedingly advantages and especially promising for the future”. (pg 55 Kafka) This is a quote that shows he even though they had everything with Gregor they never had a moment to think of there future and now that Gregg is dead they look forward for better time.

In conclusion we might have someone who is giving us all the materialistic things in the world there not buying us the hope for a better future. It’s better to have hope in a better future, being happy, and being an individual. Greggs family had to pass through the metamorphosis to realize they were better off without Gregg in there lives. I think the theme that this book reveals is being yourself, living your life how you want it and most important find a way to survive with your effort and not depending on someone.
