Locked in time..book review

Locked in time by Lois Duncan is about a girl about the age of 17 named Nore. Her mother had apssed away and it was summer time to come home form her boarding school in New England. She went to live with her father and his new family in Shadow Grove. Her dad remarried to a beautiful young woman named lissete and she had a son named Gabe and a daughter named Josie. As Nore settles in for the summer she starts to realize some strangenessin her dad's new family.
In this book Nore is determined to convince her dad of all the strange things that occur such as Gabe trying to drown Nore after a boating trip or all the old documents she found stating that lissete has had 6 husbands before and they all tragically died or disappeared. Also explaining how her marriages to them lasted only a little bit of time. Nore found documents dating back form the late 1800's.
Nore began to investigate even more to find out what was going on and what she found was that lissete was married in 1890 and as she aged her husband lsot interest in her and would sleep around especially with one certain woman who practiced witchcraft . lissete told that woman to leave her husband alone and the woman told her that she would trade her youth for her husband. And so she agreed and it worked for her children as well and the reason she would have to get rid of her husbands were because they would start to notice that none of them were aging. And so she would remarry each time so that they would be able to support her family and therye nice house because they couldnt hold any jobs without a social security and thyree socials were dated way back in the 1800's.
This book is good because the writer gives alot of detail and it's one of those chilling suspensful books.

how it feels to be colored me (jen)

I am half Mexican and half Salvadorian. I was born and raised in East Los Angeles. I now live in Monterey Park where majority of the poeple in the neighbor hood are asian. When i was in grade school alot of my classmates were black and asian. Being oblivious to racism and stereotypes and discrimination i never notcied that they were so different then i was they were fun they were my friends. As i matured i learned that there was so much negativity towards each race and cultures . i realized that no matter what race you were there would be some sort of negativity towads you . Being a Mexican or in my case a latina in a latino community wasn't so bad because i was among pople of the same race and culture. Living in Monterey Park i would sometimes feel left out being dark skinned and hispanic. but i never let it really get to me. I am a human being just like everyone else.. why should i let something like the color of my skin or ethnicity stop me from doing what i want and being myself. I sometimes think and wonder how boring it would be if all of us were one race. Then i also wondr how life would be not having to deal with all the chaos that goes on because of race.

native son reflection

In native sun i have learned that blacks and whites are seen so differently. It shows that whites have it easy in life they dont have to go through so many judgements, discriminations, and stereotypes. And for the colored people, their lif is a big prejudgement. Other then that it also taught me that whenever you do wrong there's always a consequence. And we tend to take olot of oppurtunities in life for granted. Fear can change the way we see things and the way we pursue them. good comlmunication with family and friends is good to so that they can help us with advice for our own obsticales in life.
